On March 19, 2026, the International Coordinating Committee for the Conservation and Enhancement of Preah Vihear (ICC-Preah Vihear) organized its 11th Plenary Session under the presidency of Her Excellency Academician Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, with coordination from the China-India Co-Chairs to review and discuss urgent measures to rescue Preah Vihear Temple, which suffered severe damage from two armed conflicts in 2025, as well as the conservation and development of the Koh Ker temple resort.

Prior to this meeting, from March 16–17, 2026, Ad Hoc experts from ICC-Preah Vihear conducted a site visit to inspect conservation and development work at the Koh Ker resort and to assess the impact of damages at Preah Vihear Temple. During that mission, the Ad Hoc experts provided several recommendations for the Koh Ker resort, including the organization of parking at Prasat Pram, the compilation of architectural documentation, and the preparation of structural safety for the stones at Prasat Knar for future conservation and restoration work.

The mission also focused on the conservation, restoration, and data compilation at Prasat Kok Krong and Prasat Balang Tbong, as well as the restoration of the western Gopura of Prasat Krachap and the northern and southern entrances of Prasat Krahom. Regarding Preah Vihear Temple, the experts provided recommendations for urgent interventions at locations damaged by shelling and those at high risk, ranging from the Pei Ta Daed cliff to the Naga Bridge of the 5th Gopura, and they also inspected the damage to the ticket booth at the foot of the Preah Vihear mountain.

At the conclusion of the day-long meeting, the China-India Co-Chairs, the member states of ICC-Preah Vihear, and international experts committed to continuing their participation with the Royal Government of Cambodia in the protection and maintenance of the Preah Vihear World Heritage Site for future generations. In particular, both Co-Chairs demonstrated their position to continue the conservation work of Preah Vihear Temple through this consultative forum once the situation returns to normalcy.
