Congratulations on the Official Opening of the “Preah Vihear Atthoros Museum” to the Public
On the morning of June 29, 2026, Her Excellency Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet highly presided over the official inauguration and public opening of the “Preah Vihear Atthoros Museum” at the Phnom Preah Reach Throap (Oudong Mountain) cultural resort, located in Chey Odom Village, Psar Dek Commune, Ponhea Leu District, Kandal Province.
The museum houses a monumental Buddha statue standing 18 cubits tall (measuring 16.79 meters including the pedestal), from which the name “Atthoros” is derived. The exhibition showcases historical Buddha statues, kneeling celestial deities (Thep Pranam), and various sacred religious artifacts sourced from the stupas of King Ang Eng and King Ang Satha, alongside numerous antiquities dating back to the Oudong era.
We must collectively participate in protecting and preserving the historic legacy of our Khmer ancestors to ensure its permanence. This heritage represents our cultural identity and national soul, serving as a vital foundation for all of us to study, research, and expand our understanding.
